Why This Goal Is Important: The existence and advancement of a free society depend on the knowledge, skills and understanding of its citizenry. Through the study of various forms and levels of government and the documents and institutions of the United States, students will develop the skills and knowledge that they need to be contributing citizens, now and in the future.

Why This Goal Is Important: George Santayana said "those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." In a broader sense, students who can examine and analyze the events of the past have a powerful tool for understanding the events of today and the future. They develop an understanding of how people, nations, actions and interactions have led to today's realities. In the process, they can better define their own roles as participating citizens.
STANDARD 3 ‑ Application of Technology in InstructionThe competent teacher will apply learning technologies that support instruction in his or her grade level and subject areas. He or she must plan and deliver instructional units that integrate a variety of software, applications, and learning tools. Lessons developed must reflect effective grouping and assessment strategies for diverse populations. Objetive(s):
(1) Students will examine Unit 6 "A Period of Turmoil and Change" and Unit 7 "Continuity and Change."
(2) Students will utilize internet research to design and create an interactive wiki page which will illuminate textbook information and student understanding. Materials: Textbook, "America Pathways To The Present," technology and the Internet. Assignment:
(1) Submit your e-mail address to Mr. Dennis and/or Mr. Willis.
(2) Accept your invitation to join and become a member of wikispaces.com
(3) Design and create a Wiki Page by summarizng your assigned topic from Chapters 21,23,26, 27 and post it to your Wikipage. Utilize the internet as one of your resources.
(4) Use the discussion tap to constructively evaluate and make comments on the topics listed within the navigation box. Please be sure to make a strong effort to include "key words from" level six of Bloom's Taxonomy with in your evaluations.
